Bring in existing photos and chats
You can import photos and chats you already have, organized by date.
- Photo and video folders
- Pick a folder exported from Google Photos or a folder on your phone, and each file goes into the entry for the day it was taken. The same file is never uploaded twice.
- KakaoTalk chat
- Add a KakaoTalk 'Export chat' file and you get one entry per day. Photos and chats stay on the same timeline.
You can undo just the imported batch. Files on your phone and computer are left untouched.
FAQ
Questions before you start.
Could my photos ever disappear?
Entries in a free space are kept with no time limit. When a paid plan ends, everything stays for 90 days. After that, only the photos and videos over the free storage are deleted, starting with the most recent uploads, and every member of the space gets an email 30 days and 7 days before. You can also save your photos, videos, letters and entries to your phone or computer with Download everything in Settings.
What if I use up the free storage?
New uploads pause, and everything you've uploaded stays. You can still view at full size, download files, and export within your monthly download limit. Check your usage and remaining limit in Settings.
Can I start on my own?
Yes. When you create a space, tap "Start alone and invite later" to start on your own. Invite your partner later with a 6-character code and it becomes a space for two. If your partner made a space first, you can move to it with their code while yours is still empty.
Can I bring memories from other apps?
Yes. Pick a folder exported from Google Photos or a folder on your phone and it's imported by the date taken. A KakaoTalk 'Export chat' file becomes one entry per day. Photos and videos are resized for easy viewing, and you can undo an imported batch later. Files on your phone and computer are left untouched.
Do you keep my original files?
No. Photos and videos are resized on your phone to a size that looks great on screen before they upload. They upload faster and use less storage. Your originals stay in your phone's photo app. Naran is not a backup of your originals.
What can I download?
You get a ZIP of your photos and videos, plus separate record files for text, letters you can open, comments, albums, and anniversaries. Locked letter text, letter attachments, and music aren't included. Anything left out is listed in the download notes.
What happens to our photos if my partner leaves or deletes their account?
They stay in your space. If one of you leaves or deletes their account, the photos, videos, letters and entries you both added stay in the space of the person who remains. If the person who left was the owner, the person who remains becomes the owner. Reactions and movie or book notes left by someone who deleted their account may be deleted when their account is removed. When the last person leaves, the space and everything in it is deleted after 7 days, so save it first with Download everything.
Do you ask for my phone number or real name?
No. You sign up with an account like Google or Apple, and we receive that account's email address and name. We don't ask for your phone number or verify your real name. If you have a question, write to [email protected] or vivory.app/contact.
Is there an app?
Yes. Get the iPhone app on the App Store and the Android app on Google Play. Sign in with the same Google or Apple account on the app or the web and your memories carry over. On iPhone you can also use widgets and app notifications. Sharing from your gallery works in the Android app.
